Advocating for natural, at-home births has always been a part of the crunchy mom community. Growing up, I knew a mom who birthed three out of her four kids in a kiddie pool in her living room. One of those births was even live-streamed on Vimeo. No offense to this woman or anyone else who wants a home birth, but frankly, I don't understand the appeal. In the past 100 years, we have been blessed by all sorts of advancements that make birth so much less painful and dangerous. Having immediate access to that care if anything goes wrong would matter a lot more to me than giving birth next to my couch and TV. I would probably scream so much that the neighbors would call the police, and that's no way to bring a life into this world. These parenting Facebook posts might tickle your fancy if you don't understand the crunchy mom phenomenon.
