A dress code? At work? Y'all are lucky I'm even here.
This employee was decidedly opposed to his boss's strict suit policy but found a clever way to overrule his outdated rulings.
If you work somewhere with a mandated dress code, that will either bring your morning routine to a halt every morning or deprive you of your freedom to express yourself with your aesthetic. Unsurprisingly, most employees see a work dress code as a hindrance, viewing their suit-clad boss as a corpo baboon instead of an innovator. In recent years, it's not the best dressed in the room who's the most powerful and influential. Most likely, the richest guy in the room is the dude in a white t-shirt a nice pair of jeans, and a $40,000 understated watch on his wrist.
After years of working for a strictly suited company, u/mdlapla, and his coworker buddies had to sit through a mandated meeting about the importance of 'suiting up'. Yuck. Although I'm no stranger to dressing well in the morning to make a good impression, having a dusty old manager tell me how to do so through an instructional video is one way to ensure I'll be digging my heels in on the matter–which is exactly what this snarky employee did to undermine his boss.
