You have to admit that some of the names in Star Wars are pretty hilarious. I mean Dooku… c'mon. But maybe I just have an immature sense of humor. But people with immature senses of humor nevertheless find themselves in the Star Wars franchise. It unifies all of us, from the nerdy cinephiles to the man-children to the… actual children. Something about it draws all of us together. I think because it's as timeless a piece of media as we'll ever get.
Think of how many decades it has sustained us through. Sure, you can look back on it and realize the special effects weren't that great, but the story still holds up. Why else would we be blessed (or cursed) with enough spinoffs and sequels to make us blue in the face? For whatever reason, Star Wars is the tie that binds.
