These managers had an empowering day at work when they got to tell their worst customers that they were in fact the person in charge. It must be an incredibly satisfying way to end a conversation with a nightmare customer.
U/ProfessorUber decided to ask people about their best "Actually, I am the manager" stories, and hundreds of people shared their favorite tales. After working in retail or food service for a few years, you know all the rules and regulations like the back of your hand. So when a customer starts asking you to bend the rules or do things you're just straight up banned from doing, you know you can't do that, but the customer will still insist on talking to a manager. That manager is just going to tell them the same thing you've already been trying to tell the customer for the last 10 minutes. They just have an official title that makes the customer believe what they're saying (finally!). So it makes sense that when an employee finally gets promoted to the manager position, they've waited a long time to say those magic words: "I am the manager here."
After that, read about two retail managers who worked together to get back at a completely irrational customer, telling them, "I've spoken with one of our experts."
