Parents will do all sorts of things to make sure their kids succeed. I understand moving to an area with a good school district or paying for SAT tutoring, but some parents take it too far. I know kids who were held back in elementary school so that they could be older than everyone in their grade. The reason? Being better at sports. If you're 15 and competing against a bunch of 13-year-old squirts for a spot on the 8th-grade basketball A-Team, you'll probably have a better chance of getting on. I understand being held back for developmental or educational reasons, but to do it solely for sports is a little wild to me. But hey, who am I to talk? I'm just a childless no-nothing who can't stop scrolling through all the wildest parenting posts the internet offers. If you also enjoy such an activity, you've come to the right place.
