It's easy to look back at the medieval period with gratitude that you're not living in it. Who wants to spend their days doing menial farm work while munching on stone soup to survive? Why would you want to live in a time where one disease killed ⅓ of the entire population of Europe? Medieval Times are much harder to glamourize than the Renaissance or the Victorian Era, despite how much the restaurant tries to rebrand that. Although common folk were living middling lives, there are some medieval jobs we can fantasize about having. Who among us haven't wished we were a knight in shining armor, a hobbit in the Shire, or a maiden in the tower? I wish I could see myself being one of those medieval painters whose favorite paint color was bright gold. We should be allowed to romanticize medieval times if we please, and these medieval memes are a great opportunity to do so.
