Welcome back ladies and gentlemen of the internet. In any relationship, the two people need to be on the same page. It's incredible the amount of times I heard a man say to me, defensively, 'it was a joke!' Well, buddy, usually people know whether someone is joking or not. If it comes out insulting, insinuating, or downright mean, don't try to convince me it's a 'joke.'
While in a partnership, it's also crucial to be curious about the other person. If you've already spoken for their side in your head, and you're determined that you don't need to discover them or explore a certain situation, then it will go nowhere.
In this Reddit thread, the original poster (OP) is a man who went along with his wife's 'joke' a little too suddenly. Without asking her questions or having a reaction, his response to her silly joke about getting a divorce was 'sure.' I'm not sure what he expected from this reaction, but I hope no one ever dates him again when they do get their inevitable divorce.
