Sometimes you have to get creative when dealing with a incompetent and entitled manager. You would think, as managers, they would take their responsibilities seriously and have more concern for their employees. Unfortunately, that is not usually the case. So what do you do? Well, in this Reddit case, it was semantics that saved the day.
The employee working was understaffed, but still managed through his shift. He saw it was coming time for him to clock out soon and needed to find his replacement so he wouldn't have to work past his hours. So he did exactly what he was supposed to do and rang up the on-call manager. However, this lazy manager refused to come in and was trying to force him to stay longer. The employee decided to use a little trick and said he had a 5-year-old and a 7-year-old that have been all alone since 8am and needed their father immediately. And he left without further discussion. The manager, just assuming he was talking about children, called protective services on him. But when he got the call, they both had a good laugh at the trick he pulled on the manager when it was exposed that he was talking about his dogs. Sometimes you have to make sure it's human youngins if you're going to be entitled like that.
