Entitlement reveals itself in a number of ways. The most apparent way? When folks assume they can use things you own repeatedly, especially without some sort of compensation. Now, this excludes families and friends whom you don't mind sharing "the wealth" with. But when your next-door neighbors start getting carried away with using your utilities, like water, they can in turn mess up your living experience. That's where you draw the line.
The man in this story is venting about how his neighbor has been using his well water since their well dried up. It's been a week and some change, and upon asking the neighbors when they plan on fixing it, the neighbors respond with a half-hearted answer that implies they don't know nor care. Mind you, they've been bringing over "multiple 5-gallon buckets" to fill up with this guy's water. The neighbors are a family of 10 with a surplus of animals. Had this not been the case, maybe this man wouldn't be so upset about the ordeal. He decides to cut off their water, with a warning, and the mother of the family next door is not happy about it.
Look, the bottom line: don't be entitled and expect people to be okay with it. Especially when it seems like you're just mooching off of someone's empathy and kindness. Scroll to read the entire story.
