Weddings have so many unspoken rules. You need to wear something fancy but not too fancy so as not to overshadow the bride. You need to get the couple a gift that's sufficiently expensive so that they can set up their lives. You cannot get too drunk even though you can get as many drinks as you want for free. As exhausting as it is to be a wedding guest, hosting a wedding is a million times harder. You have to carefully choose the guest list, deciding how many people you can afford to host and who will be left on the cutting room floor. You must decide whether it's more important to have an open bar or 40 more guests, which isn't an easy choice to make! While some wedding features are optional, dinner at an evening wedding is an absolute must, and this couple did not get that memo.
