‘She's not going to like it but I'm not going to care’: Employee requests time off a year in advance, manager says that they're ‘being inconsiderate’ of fellow employees

Requesting time off is stressful. It shouldn't be, but having to plan things many months to years in advance means you need to have all of your ducks in a row before even thinking about requesting vacation time at your job. The next hurdle is getting that approved by management, who more often than not have some sort of issue with the number of days or specific holidays you request off. In terms of part-time work, managers have to work out scheduling, especially in the customer service industry. So, taking off very far in advance should be a good thing, right? You'd think.

When you request off, say, in a one-day-a-week part-time gig, you're not missing much. The original poster (OP) of this story has a full-time position and a part-time gig. Their full-time job approved their vacation days and now, they're just waiting for the Sunday job to approve. Instead of their days being approved, they were essentially scolded by management about how they were being inconsiderate of other employees. Inconsiderate would look like not informing them of any vacation and just not showing up. What do you think?
