Company offers unlimited PTO, but one coworker can't stop throwing shade every time an employee takes a day off: 'This is why the US has a toxic workaholic culture'

In a company with unlimited PTO, you'd think taking a day off would be a no-brainer. But for one woman working in engineering, every time she takes a well-deserved break, there's this one coworker who's always quick to make a comment about it in front of everyone. Her coworker seems to think that unlimited PTO is a personal challenge to his work ethic, and he's not shy about making it known. Especially on company-wide meetings. 

Every time she takes a day off, his comments range from "Must be nice to have endless vacation days" to "Oh, another day off? Living the dream, huh?" It's like he's running a one-man campaign against the idea of work-life balance. The irony of it all is that the company's unlimited PTO policy is supposed to foster a healthy work environment and prevent burnout, but this coworker's attitude is doing the exact opposite. The woman claims he's contributing to a toxic work culture where taking time off feels like a privilege you need to justify rather than a right to recharge.
