In the words of Carly Rae Jepsen, "I'm just going to the store to the store." A truer sentiment has never been expressed. Going to the grocery store is an important ritual. It's where we decide what type of person we're trying to be that week. Am I shooting for the moon and only buying Swiss chard, bulgur wheat, and a bunch of celery stalks? Or am I giving over into the grosser instincts, filling my cart with frozen impossible nuggets and Ben and Jerry's? It's hard to find a balance between what you can and will eat and what you'd like to be eating. I also find it very hard to think ahead and anticipate what I might want a few days from now.
All to say, the grocery store can be a minefield. It can also be free therapy. So these memes celebrate that very human act, so we can all feel connected.
