You know that terrible feeling? When you go to see a movie based on one of your favorite book series? You try not to get your hopes up, but deep down, you're telling yourself the story is so good, there's no way they can mess it up. Big mistake. The movie starts, and right away, something feels off. Not only do the main characters look and sound nothing like they did in your head, but the whole vibe is wrong. Why is everything so… real? And what's with the background music? There was no music when I was reading, and even if there was, it definitely wasn't this!
You sit there, squirming in your seat for two hours until it's finally over. You can't wait to bash the director, the actors, and everyone involved in this travesty. But as you walk out, your friends say, "That was so good! Now I understand why you like it so much," and all you can manage is, "The book is better."
