This Sunday, Harry Potter fans at King's Cross station were in for a big disappointment. For years, the real-life train station has announced the departure of the fictional Hogwarts Express from Platform 9 ¾ at 11 AM on September 1st, but this year, King's Cross preemptively announced that the announcement would not be happening. Instead, Warner Brothers opted for an online celebration of the first day of school. Unfortunately, tons of Potterheads didn't know about this cancelation and showed up at the train station anyway. They counted down, cheered, and booed when the announcement didn't happen.
It's easy to rag on adult Harry Potter fans for spending their time this way, but I can't be that mean. After all, this has happened for years, and I don't blame them for not knowing until it was too late. If you think King's Cross should bring back the tradition next year, these Harry Potter memes are excellent reading material for your ride on the Hogwarts Express.
