It can be really disappointing to actually enjoy your job but feel like you have to leave because you cannot work with the people around you.

After OP (original poster) got skipped over a big promotion for a clueless new hire who became the manager, OP had to deal with this manager's incompetence. Already feeling disappointed from the lack of promotion, OP could not deal with this new micromanager, so they found a clever way to get revenge on him – by quitting and making him cancel his big vacation.
