Oi.
Yeah, you–OI! It's Billy Butcher at it again in this latest season of The Boys. You lot might think that it's ya dear ol Billy who's the greatest antihero in showbiz, but with an entire universe constructed of anti-hero heros, there are a lot of faves to choose from: Starlight, Maeve, the Deep, A-Train, MM, and even silly lil Hughie.
Superheros have always been on everyone's radar. Since we were kids, it's like the sorting hat of destiny would tell you if you were going to be obsessed with dinosaurs, trucks, dolls, or superheroes and there are a lot of adults out there who never grew out of their supe phase. But for the lovers of dark humor and shockingly human realisms, you're not looking for your superpower fix in the MCU or DC universe. We're tired of predictability and superheroes with their powers chopped off at the knee–give us exploding heads, torn off limbs, balding women, and a long-term relationship with an octopus and you can count us in.
There's nothing quite like a calm evening at home watching a show that boldly calls out the flaws of the world while giving us a taste of pure unadulterated anarchy. Just keep your cringing to a minimum when someone upsets Homelander. So keep scrolling, Starlighters, if you're a fan of supes, but not those flashy, fake MCU types.
