Driving long hours on the road is a difficult job for anyone. You're sleep-deprived, you can potentially get road hypnosis, and you're all by your lonesome. A freight driver's assignment usually entails making deliveries and stopping by specific stops to collect cargo.
When you're doing a long route without help and have a bunch of deliveries and pick-ups to make, it should be common sense that you might not be able to get everything done in not only a timely manner but a safe manner as well. When your managers refuse to send help but still expect things to get done their way, they should expect some petty malicious compliance in return.
The man in this story was expected to make a copious amount of deliveries and collections along a rural route and was refused help four different times while still being expected to complete every task. His pleas were ignored, so he decided to drop off everything necessary and pick up a meager two parcels. Many other freight drivers got the short end of the stick because of this, but this was OP's way of sending management a message. Things do work out for him in the end.
