Alien: Romulus has been in theaters for almost a week now and has been getting rave reviews. With 81% on Rotten Tomatoes and a 7.4/10 rating on IMDB in its first week, the franchise has proved itself to be evergreen.
The first movie in the franchise was released in 1979, shocking viewers with the famous bursting-chest scene. That part of the first movie is something that is impossible to forget (no matter how hard you want to) and Ridley Scott's creative direction proved to be a major success. The aliens, xenomorphs, attempt to hijack a space exploration ship using their almost-unbeatable skills, handed to them by years of evolution to perfect their chances of survival.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but curiosity is lethal. Ellen Ripley and the rest of her team are skeptical of the alien habitat but move forward into the unknown and are eventually overtaken by the species. Ripley then backtracks on the curiosity and instead has a taste for revenge. A lot can be said about the first movie, but Alien: Romulus sticks to the Alien roots without compromising alternative creative directions. A must-see for sure.
