Pilates may look graceful, elegant, and even easy, but on the inside, you're fighting demons you never thought you'd face. Pilates is hard work, training all the tiny minuscule little muscles you didn't even know you had, all while maneuvering a machine that looks more like a medieval torture device than something you'd exercise with. People who do pilates don't mess around. They are in deep control of their body, but don't let it show on their face.
This is perfectly exemplified in an episode of Veep when Dan Egan finds out that Kent Davidson is a regular at a pilates gym, so he joins up in order to hobnob and network with him on the reformer, but Dan realizes that the workout is no joke, and hilarity ensues. I'd like to think that Kent would enjoy these memes and that his steely visage would crack even the slightest smile. And I hope the same for you.
