Attics hold so much potential for story. What could be up there? An old chest full of party dresses from the 1920s? Grandpa's old army uniform? A secret stash of first-edition comics? Photo albums that reveal long-held family secrets? A treasure map? A bunch of old spiders? Some tax returns from 2004 that your parents are keeping around just in case? Your old retainer from 3rd grade that you swore would gain value one day? A million dollars in cash?
There's infinite mystery contained in that closed-off room upstairs. That's why movies and TV shows always have so much attic imagery. Think about it. I never grew up with an attic, and have never had one now, but my mind is flooded with images of attics. All because of the mainstream media. Well, the good thing about this attic is that there's no secret about what's in there. It's just good memes.
