Splitting the bill evenly at a restaurant is the worst.
There's rarely a scenario where each person actually pays what they owe at dinner because we're not sitting here ordering the exact same thing on the menu. No matter what, someone's getting the short end of the stick and the larger end of the bill. Although the sentiment of 'oh, we're all equals, let's just split the bill equally' seems heartwarming on paper, in practice, it's ironically divisive–and seems to only benefit the one who suggested it.
Because it's never someone ordering a house salad and a glass of water who's suggesting splitting the bill evenly. It's probably going to be your parasitic older sisters who brought along a herd of hungry teenagers with them…
The Redditor in our next story was whisked away to the internet after being berated for bad behavior over a split bill. The 20-year-old, childless Redditor had met up for a Mother's Day lunch with her two older sisters, sitting at a large table for 6 (including their own mother). The two oldest sisters each brought 2 teenagers with them, which was totally fine until they suggested evenly splitting the bill 3 ways. Outraged at the imposition, the youngest caused a scene, claiming she's not obligated to pay for her nieces' and nephews' meals.
