As I upload this listicle I am thinking about the artist that are behind all these classical paintings and my heart goes out to them. I mean, it's one thing to upload a photo or a video to the internet and have it turned into a meme by a bunch of strangers, But it's an entirely different thing altogether when it comes to these paintings. These weren't some sketches people whipped up in an hour; These are paintings that took weeks, sometimes months or even years to complete. Someone poured their heart and soul onto a canvas and that canvas remained untouched and appreciated for hundreds of years!
Then some nihilistic, sarcastic, bored (and a little mean, perhaps) advanced society, living in an age where there is an overabundance of paintings and images, Takes those people's life work and crudely adds captions on top of them, draining the original meaning behind the works of art and replacing them with the most mundane, unhinged, vapid…
