Call me a n00b all you want, but I'm just now reading the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Growing up, I watched all three movies in theaters (without my mother's permission) and was captivated by the entire universe, but apparently just now in my adulthood, I've decided to finally act on this passion for LOTR.
Like when Frodo first gets the Ring from Bilbo, Gandalf has his little BRB moment then he ends up disappearing for decades. In that time, Frodo is forced to consider his relationship to the Ring, wondering, 'Can I just hide it?' and 'Maybe everyone forgot about the Ring', instead of facing the facts. Finally, as things start to go haywire in the Shire, Frodo seizes his destiny, unearths the Ring from Its hiding spot, and embarks on a journey that would change his life forever.
Albeit not as epic, my journey reading the books has considerably changed my life forever–even though I put it off for so long! So if you're hesitant about reading the one book saga to rule them all, consider this… Either you can wait for the Ringwraiths to kick down your door or you can seize your destiny and become a full-on Lord of the Rings nerd.
