Marriage offers up many challenges and a big one of these is how your partner shows up for you when you're going through struggles with your finances or career. Unless you're very lucky, few things can be more stressful than having somebody by your side through your unemployment who doesn't necessarily make it better.
It's also true that support comes in many different forms, and some are going to appeal less to those outside of the relationship. This was something that caused a massive controversy on Twitter recently when a wife revealed how her husband had tried to cheer her up after she faced multiple job rejections.
Sending her an email with the subject line 'Your application has been accepted', he proceeded to say that she had succeeded in obtaining the role of being his wife. Not everybody thought this was a cute gesture, to say the least. It has to be said, you can see why somebody might take this the wrong way.
