The Missouri-born pop star has made Midwestern-ness central to her pop ethos, and we're so thankful for it. She's proof that we're cool, in touch, and have good roots to back it up. Okay, don't mention that one of her banner songs, "Pink Pony Club" is actually about how she had to leave her hometown in order to live her full, authentic truth. Just don't mention it.
