You know what they say, more money, more problems. But usually, the problem is not receiving the money that was promised to you. Usually, if someone says they're going to pay you… they pay you. Unless you're dealing with shady people, and then it's usually not at work unless you work as a mobster or some sort of black market wheeler and dealer.
It can be awkward enough to ask for what you deserve, but to have to repeatedly ask for it until you get it, that's even tougher. But that's what happened to one employee who was promised a raise in the form of a lump sum and hasn't seen it. I can't imagine the level of fake-out they might feel, and how demeaning it is to have to constantly remind someone what they owe you. It's like sending "remind" on a Venmo request.
