According to experts (me), Spotify is one of the best music streaming services out there that's legal and available to the public. You can find most, if not all, of your favorite artists on the app, in addition to really cool personalized playlists that track your listening habits (not creepy at all). But hey, sometimes you gotta get algorithmic if you expect a non-human computer program to give you some tunes you'll like. Creating the perfect playlist isn't easy—especially if you're handed the aux cord in the car during a summer road trip—so a little helping hand from Spotify might track down the music you might have loved but completely forgot about.
What ISN'T cool about Spotify is the way they treat their musical artists (paying them pennies) and long, unsettling advertisements that frighten you like clockwork. I'll reiterate that if you think you might be the musical chosen one this summer, consider getting Spotify Premium. Not for me, but for you. Too many times I thought a complete banger of a song would start blaring through the speakers, then I heard, as unsoft as a screech, “SICK OF THE ADS?”
