Parenting is sort of like the Olympics. Keeps you awake during odd hours, makes you care about things you never knew existed, and gives you good small-talk content. Except that the (summer) Olympics only happen every four years. Parenting is… forever. Even when your kid turns 18 and they're no longer legally your responsibility, odds are you're kinda gonna be parenting them for the rest of your life. The instinct doesn't go away just because they don't live in your house anymore. And plus, they might need to live in your basement for a while. It happens, ok?
And like the Olympics too, parenting makes for great fodder on Twitter. Yes, parents be tweeting, and we keep reading them. Because they make us feel a little less alone, and that's worth more than a gold medal. Okay, maybe a gold medal would be pretty nice too… why don't they give awards for parenting?
