Some employers will always find any time off requested by their employees suspicious. After all, if they really loved their job, why would they decide not to work for two weeks out of 52? Wouldn't they want to let their time off expire at the end of the year so that they can get even more satisfaction from putting in more hard days of work than any of their colleagues? What's the deal with all of these lazybones employees?
If you follow that logic to its conclusion, you will see how inane it is. Nonetheless, hundreds of bosses do some version of this all the time, and they rarely apply such logic to themselves. One worker who has been at his company for nearly a decade requested two weeks off. The Vice President of the company denied it because apparently that's what people who are quitting do, despite the fact that he just took three weeks off.
