A throwaway line in this person's story was drawing some major side-eyes from those who read it.
If it ain't broke, don't fix it. Too many workplaces disregard this rule, and try different strategies that do nothing but annoy their workers. If you have a hardworking employee who gets all their tasks done and is loyal to your company, that's a benefit to the company. But some bosses refuse to leave good enough alone. Instead of finding an actual issue to fix, they've decided to bother this employee into working more hours for no good reason. If you're completing all your daily tasks anyway, what is sitting around for an extra 30 minutes going to accomplish? Not much, as u/SilentIntrusion's boss is about to find out.
However, this person told their story and briefly mentioned that their boss made a rather impolite comment to them. Their boss said that as an employee with ADD, they're unsure if "you're even capable of doing 40 hours of work each week." That's a very unkind thing to say, first of all. Second of all, she hired that employee, so any doubts she has are her own fault. And third of all, all commenters pointed out, she's probably breaking ADA guidelines and discriminating against an employee with a disability.
