What part of "No" don't you understand?
  • 2
You ever get those guests who refuse to take no as an answer? "Sorry, I don't have any rooms available." "NO! I WANT A ROOM." like bob the builder? do I look

A few weeks ago we had a guest who absolutely refused to take no as an answer and I've been in the hotel industry for 3 years and let me say this guest took "Well I'm a shiny I'm better than you member." To a whole different level.

I come into work for my night audit shift and I ask my coworker if there's anything I should know for my shift. She tells me there's a guest who is incredibly entitled and has been asking multiple times if the shuttle can take him somewhere. Our shuttle is for airport services only and guest can't request to go somewhere that isn't the airport and the only people who can are aircrew members.

She told him several times that the shuttle isn't a taxi service and if he wanted to go somewhere he would need to get his own transportation. He pulled the classic "Well I'm a shiny member card." And she told him AGAIN that our shuttle isn't a taxi service. Around 6am the guest came downstairs and asked me if the shuttle could take him somewhere.

Guest: "Can the shuttle driver take me here." Me: "Unfortunately our shuttle isn't a taxi service and it's only used to drop off or pick up guests to and from the airport." Guest: "Can't you ask him if he can take me?"

Me: "Sir, he will tell you the same thing. Our shuttle isn't a taxi service." He kept pushing that he needed to go to the store so I decided to let my shuttle driver come talk to him. My shuttle driver is the type of guy who doesn't take from guests and will call you out for being disrespectful or in this case entitled like this guest.

My shuttle driver: "Sir, I'm not taking you to the store. We only use our shuttle for airport services and you have already asked several times for the shuttle to take you places and both front desk agents have told you the same thing im telling you now." He eventually does his walk of shame back to his room but when I came back the next day for my shift..oh boy.

So another thing I should mention is this guests got chewed tf out later that day by my manager and the shuttle driver. My coworker mentioned that she saw on his reservation he had a 3pm check out but the latest we do is 2pm and apparently during check in he told the AM desk

agent that someone promised him a 3pm check out. Which was a lie because everyone here knows the latest is 2pm and he apparently kept pushing us to give him a 4pm and my manager told him no and he needed to be out or we will call the police.
  • 11
But this wasn't the only thing he did and idk if anyone has been in the military or had a parent in the military know that when you get chewed out it's over and the scariest thing to happen because I would just cry Earlier that day the guest called the hotel saying that the shuttle driver dropped him off at the wrong hotel. Both my shuttle driver and manager
  • 12
were confused because we knew he's a guest here so why would we drop him off at the wrong hotel? We have an old sister hotel near by (We don't work together anymore) and turns out he went over(in a Uber) to the other hotel and ate breakfast over there. Something I should mention is our hotel doesn't serve breakfast we have a

restaurant attach to us and guests eat breakfast there but they pay for it separately or sometimes it's included in their reservations but the other hotel serves free breakfast so he went over there pretended to be a guest to have breakfast.
  • 14
The shuttle driver wasn't happy that this guest lied and made him look bad in front of our manager but thankfully our manager knows he's a good employee and wouldn't drop off a guest that was staying with us at the wrong hotel.
  • 15
You know what's funny? When the shuttle driver picked him up this guy had the AUDACITY to ask if the shuttle driver could take him to the store again and this is where my shuttle driver had enough. He arrived at the hotel and put the van in park and proceeded to call him out.

Shuttle driver: "Look since it's just the two of us in this van let's get one thing straight. I'm not a taxi driver and this shuttle is for airport services ONLY but you keep refusing to listen. Not only do you not listen but you're also a liar. You told my manager I dropped
  • 17
you off at the wrong hotel and made me look bad in front of my manager and you not only lied to me and my manager but also to the front desk agents. No one promised you a 3pm check out and you lied and told the front desk agent someone did."
  • 18
Guest: ... And end this story guess what he did...he asked again to go to the store...like...WHAT?! After all that you still asked?! He hasn't been back and we'd like it to stay that way.

Healthy-Library4521. 5 hr. ago I hope the hotel informed rewards what he tried to pull. This guy probably complains all the time about properties not doing what he wants and gets points for it from rewards/corporate.

igramigru101 6 hr. ago What i like in this guest is consistency. No matter he was told, he is on his path. LOL. Admit it, if he was normal person, would we have this story to laugh and shake heads? Idk, does he have some disorder or just low Iq? I mean, he did manage to get free breakfast and to lie successfully, so I don't think he's dumb.

SkwrlTail 5 hr. ago People don't realize that shuttle buses have very strict limits on where they can go. Taking passengers anywhere other than their specific hotel and the airport is illegal. Why? Because they aren't registered as a taxi.

Taxis are very strictly regulated, and a license to operate one (aka a "medallion") can be very expensive, running to the hundreds of thousands of dollars in the big cities. But that cost comes with a promise from the city that there won't be unlicensed taxis operating and competing for fares. ("Rideshare" apps are another story for another day)
  • 23
But yeah, this person travels, they should know better. Time to drop a complaint to the Super Shiny Member Program about his behavior, because this is abuse.
  • 24
MommaGuy 1 hr. ago Can you revoke his shiny status? Is there a way to report his antics to corporate? There has to be a clause or rules that need to be adhered to.

JennFoogle OP. 1 hr. ago I know there's a way to do it but only managers can.

thedudeabidesOG. 21 min. ago Hopefully you have good management who wanted to work on that as soon as that fool checked out.
