You can see this perfected in a couple who has recently gone viral. The boyfriend is a gamer and the girlfriend is a TikToker. When she revealed this, she found out that a lot of Elden Ring gamers followed her. So she asked for advice on what to say to her boyfriend to make it sound like she knew the game on an expert level. And boy did they deliver!
While her boyfriend was playing Elden Ring, she went up to him and started a conversation where she very casually started dropping Elden Ring terms only people who have been playing for a while would understand. Suffice to say, the gamer boyfriend was extremely confused. He asked her if she had played the game without him knowing, and she simply responded by saying that it was just “basic” Elden Ring that everybody knew.
