‘No more work until pay goes up’: Manager dumps more workload on employee after firing majority of the team, employee refuses to comply without a raise, gets fired as a result

What is going on inside managers' heads when they decide to create literal chaos for their employees for no apparent reason? Do they really think that firing employees and then refusing to hire replacements will help their business? And what do they end up doing after they fire everyone on their team and have no one to do the job?

Those are questions I would love to ask the management in this Reddit story, as they fired the majority of their team and expected one employee to take on all the workload, without so much as a raise. When that one employee realized they were being exploited, they refused to let management dump more work on them without getting a pay raise, which then led management to fire that one employee they had left. Good one management, who is going to do all the work now?
