In our teens and early twenties, the notion of aging was downright terrifying. Becoming an adult and having more responsibilities seemed so daunting. Many of us had unrealistic expectations and milestones for our twenties, not realizing it was the best time to be messy, awkward, and make mistakes. It also seemed like we would all immediately shrivel up like a prune and start talking like the Wicked Witch of the West as soon as we hit thirty. In reality, though, as this dreaded age grew nearer, and as our prefrontal cortexes developed fully, we came to realize that aging is actually just like constantly upgrading. We're all still hot, but much, much wiser, more confident, and no longer slaves to expectations. Now that we're grown up, there is less pressure to be 'adulting,' because we realize that most of us are just winging it anyway-- and that's okay!
