Bowser is one of the most misunderstood characters in the Super Mario franchise. Yes, he's evil, egotistical, selfish, and immature (the list can go on and on); but look at how he interacts with Bowser Jr. Honestly, I would wreak havoc on people, too, if a girl that I loved didn't like me back and all I do is hang out in a castle all day. It can get pretty boring.
Mario and Luigi are the popular dudes, prancing around with their princess partners. What does Bowser get? A life of anger and vengefulness. I'll hold your hand when I say this: I am a Bowser sympathizer. Although I might get frustrated when he and Toad switch places right when I'm about to get a star whilst playing Yoshi Island Mario Party, I can't hate the player. He's just doing what he's gotta do. When you really think about it, he's just a dinosaur-tortoise hybrid that looks really weird and laughs maniacally. I won't discount the hardships Mario and friends go through at his hand, but I can't say I don't feel bad when he gets defeated. Maybe because, in reality, he's just a little guy.
