When you think of a serious food allergy, it usually makes you think of that one kid in school who was allergic to peanuts. Although their nut allergy was serious enough to carry around an EpiPen, for some reason, there was always at least one bully who doubted their legitimacy and decided to test a theory, waving a PB&J in the nose of the kid in question. It's all fun and games until the ambulance shows up and angry moms come in to scorch the earth. 

Don't mess with someone's allergies–EVER. 

Then again, in the era of trending diets and nutritionist 'influencers', some allergies start to sound like a load of hoopla–especially to the bygone generations that didn't know any better. But just because nobody was reporting on their tummy issues and the cause of their daily discomforts in the 1960s doesn't mean that gluten and dairy allergies didn't exist… 

Well, for the granddad in our next tale, he decided to put a child to the test after doubting his mother's warnings. The boy showed up to a sleepover at his friend's house with a satchel full of gluten-free snacks but even after Mom fervently insisted he had a gluten allergy, the live-in grandpa decided to do his own research, just like those bullies at recess with the PB&J.
