It's not always fair to blame parents for the actions of their children, people are psychologically complex and each child is different and wildly unpredictable in their own way. Even the best of intentions and good parenting doesn't always yield the best results, plus—well, mistakes are just part of growing up and even adults are all still just learning as we go.
Still, if you work with kids and meet the parents of a problem child, it becomes immediately clear when the problem is the parents. Usually at first meeting, you can tell exactly why the kid has picked up the problems they have since it's apparent that the parents never figured that one out themselves. What is there to be said other than the fact that it's no surprise that woefully entitled parents raise entitled children.
It became obvious to this mother that the neighborhood kids who had been using their kids' treehouse had a problem picking up after themselves, and when they approached the neighbor kids' mother about it, her flippant attitude and remarks made it obvious why her kids thought it ok to leave their trash everywhere.
The mother whose family owned the treehouse posted this thread to a popular online community wondering whether or not she was in the wrong for subsequently banning the neighbor kids from coming over uninvited. Readers shared their thoughts and opinions in the comments.
