Honestly, has upper or regional management ever volunteered to fill in for a weekend shift? This wouldn't be the first time that an upper manager pulled something like this, going with the old "you have to make sacrifices to go along with your rank" and ignoring the fact that they're not actually paying their "manager" the industry standard for their role, let alone enough to match the gravitas that they're placing on it.
Further, they're conveniently forgetting the fact that they're a manager, too. By their own logic, they should be stepping up and setting the "example" they're suddenly so concerned about setting. But no, that's the manager's personal time, and they have plans this weekend that they could never cancel.
A friend of the worker shared this post with a popular online workplace community, detailing how their friend's boss had suddenly decided at the last moment to rescind the worker's leave, demanding that he fill in for a manager who was injured off duty.
Members of the community shared their advice in the comments, with many stating that the worker should not miss his wedding under any circumstances and quoting the fact that it was more than likely that his employer would not care or appreciate the fact that he had done so long term.
