Some people just take things far too literally for their own good. Being detail-oriented and focused will get you far in life, but there are limits, as u/AQuietBorderline shared in their story of malicious compliance.
These overly literal lieutenants were tasked with a simple cleaning chore, and they even managed to mess that up. That's what you get for overthinking things, which you tend to do as an overly literal person. Even the simplest of requests can cause a person to start overthinking, leading to situations like this window-washing debacle.
This woman was a second lieutenant in the Army when the incident happened. Described as "unintentional malicious compliance," all the two troops in her recruit had to do was wash some windows. The second lieutenant dipped out for a while to try and avoid her own cranky boss… but when she came back, she admitted that it was like watching a train crash in slow motion. You just can't look away from the mistake, but you can't stop it either! Keep scrolling to read the full story.
Next, read about these absolutely awful employees, like one "sugar bandit" employee who kept using his own hands to get sugar for his coffee, then left sugar trails around the office!
