Do you ever think about the Nazgûl from Lord of the Rings? While they are lurky, undead Ringwraiths from a long-forgotten Age, they once were men too. Unlike the living, they've had centuries to ponder their immense failures and with each day that passes that they don't recover The Precious, that failure grows. So in the Fellowship where the Hobbits are spirited away by Strider (later known as Aragorn son of Arathorn), those Nazgûl probably felt so incredibly moronic. Unable to tell the difference between a fluffy white pillow and a small group of Hobbitfolk, you can feel their frustration when they screech with malice into the night sky.
One thing's for certain, when it comes to the Black Riders, mediocrity has been the only consistency in their life after death. So the next time you're quaking with fear as a faceless, robed evil guy scours the forests for you and your buddies, remember this-- statistically, he's a complete and utter failure! Yay!
Because in Lord of the Rings, the good guys have a knack for coming out on top, no matter what.
