You might think that handling a truckload of cash in a vault every day would be an exciting gig, invoking images in your mind of the opening scene of "The Dark Knight" with clowns wearing clown masks and school buses and such being a part of the everyday experience. Well, hate to break it to you, but nothing about working in a bank enters close to the world of excitement. They generally work as very drab and meticulous institutions, prioritizing security and predictability over silly little things like innovation. This is often the case for large corporate entities who generally really hate doing things off the book, leaving no room for innovation or innovation when following "the process."
So, when this head teller sought to employ their own experience and intuition to improve the process for cash orders at the bank where they worked—well, that went over like a lead balloon when their bosses caught wind of what they were told to strictly follow the system by their bosses, this led to predictable outcomes, which they had been specifically trying to avoid using their own changes to the system.
