Gaming has transformed so much over its history that it's hard to fully comprehend. Think back to the time of cavemen: surely they devised little games to pass the time with rocks and sticks. Perhaps they played games of tic-tac-toe on the cave walls. Then centuries later, remembering our roots, came the age of board games: there was a Monopoly set in every household and Parcheesi was the name on everyone's lips.
Fast forward to Pong, the first video game as we know it, which only took a few dots and lines to keep kids occupied for hours. And now we have VR games that make you feel you're smack dab in the middle of a fantastical showdown. What would cavemen think of Dark Souls? Would they see it as a mystical parallel dimension? Would they hail it as a god? We will never know. But we can look at these memes while we think about it.
