Usually, it's an honor to be the MOH (maid of honor)— I mean, it's right in the title! Traditionally, this role was given to the bride's sister or close female family member. Nowadays, brides have free reign to pick whichever bestie they'd like. Usually, the maid of honor is really close to the bride, and she should also be responsible because her main duty is to support the bride on and leading up to one of the biggest landmarks of her life. Sometimes, though, the bride can seriously overstep. Sometimes the pressure and expectations of a perfect wedding can turn a normal bride into a controlling, demanding bridezilla, and even a dedicated maid of honor is immune to the path of her destruction.
In our story today, our protagonist, soon-to-be MOH, was cut from her honorable position mere hours before the wedding. The reason? Her dress was too close to white, making her look like a bride herself. Now, generally speaking, wearing a white dress to a wedding is a massive faux pas. However, in this case, the bride herself chose the color and design of her bridesmaids' dresses— and they looked almost identical to her own wedding dress. The color, an off-gray, did look different enough next to the stark white of the bride's wedding dress. However, because of our protagonist's skin color, the gray dress looked much whiter on her. Through no fault of her own, our protagonist was banished from the special day, $350 poorer, and left wondering if this friendship is worth salvaging. Get all the tea in the thread below.
