Everybody wants a quirky girl until they start frogging their popcorn. Shows like New Girl and Gilmore Girls have propped up the idiosyncratic "quirky girl" as the epitome of femininity. They're cute, they're funny, they act like children sometimes. There are so many layers to this trope that I don't have time to get into here, but suffice it to say that quirk is all the rage. But the women in those TV shows have TV show quirks. They're well-written, funny characters who don't get a ton of multidimensionality. You also don't have to live with them. So it follows that a self-described "quirk-loving man" might recoil when he shacks up with a real-life quirkster. That fun and cute habit that would make for a fun TV scene? They might do it… all the time.
That's what happened to this man, who found himself deep in a relationship with a certifiable quirky girl. And he couldn't quite keep up. Read on for the story.
