OP lived in an apartment complex with two-story buildings and shared outdoor stairwells. Their upstairs neighbors were seemingly calm, chill people to whom they said hello once in a while. One day, OP's peaceful reading session was shattered by a commotion - shouts, running, pure family hysteria. Everything erupted into chaos. The husband was running around frantically, the wife was yelling and flailing her arms, and their kids were shouting Shakespearean quotes and pretending to be sirens.

What was the source of the madness? Well, the husband's mother had apparently come to pay them an unannounced visit… and it didn't get any better from there.
