Functioning on little to no sleep is seriously on my list of the impossible. If I get anything less than 8 hours of sleep I'm a literal nightmare. If you're a mom, I know what you're thinking. How in the world would this woman ever have kids? I'm right there with your train of thought and it is terrifying. It's also terrifying to realize how many parents, women especially, have endlessly sleepless nights because of their little one ruling the household. 

I always hear that having a baby equates to no sleep and that the parents just "get used to it." While it's understood that a newborn is your biggest and most important priority in life, you also need to remember the commitment you have to yourself. If you have the option to fit in a nap while your baby is sleeping during the day or come up with a schedule overnight for you and your partner, it's nice to have some backup. 

While these sleepless nights won't last forever, just remember to give yourself a little grace. The mommy brain hits hard the next day after little shuteye. Find some mom friends that can empathize with your situation. Trust me, they all get it.
