One of the best things about the Midwest is its commitment to dairy. In other parts of the world (cough cough the coasts), diary-free options run amok, with oat and almond ruling the average coffee order. And I'm all for that for them. For some, it's easier on the stomach, and I have nothing but ears for those people. But in the Midwest, good old-fashioned cow's milk rules supreme.
I wish I had been around in the days when everyone had a milkman. His crisp, white, uniform, the crates of wholesome milk… what a vision of Americana! Where did that go? Do some people still have milkmen? To me, milk is down-home, it's delicious, and it's completely the opposite of diet culture. Have you ever had a bowl of cereal with whole milk? It might just change your life. Just like these memes, which hail from the heartland of America and celebrate it in all its glory.
