They say office workers have it rough, stuck in cubicles all day dealing with printers and lukewarm coffee. Well, when you're a construction worker, you're dealing with constant heavy lifting, the floor is always uneven, and there's a good chance you'll end up covered in an unknown substance by the end of the day. But it's not all bad. You have a deep tan that makes spray tans look pale, and your biceps become incredibly strong. Plus, you get to enjoy the pleasures of fresh air, which is, well, mostly fresh. And there's a certain satisfaction in seeing a building rise from the ground, knowing you wrestled those beams into place with nothing but your grit and questionable sense of humor. Sure, the pay might not buy you a private island, and by the end of the day your knees feel like they belong to your grandpa, but there's a certain sense of accomplishment and team camaraderie that you won't find hunched over an Excel spreadsheet. You yell, sweat, and occasionally lose a wrench to the dimensional void that lurks beneath every floorboard, but you always get the job done. And there's nothing quite like the feeling of kicking back after a long day, enjoying some alone time and looking through hilarious memes.
