Don't you just love it when you ask for something completely standard and are then told that you're being unprofessional? That kind of manipulative response from an employer is not only frustrating and unprofessional in and of itself, but it can also leave the employee spiraling and genuinely considering if they were in the wrong or not. It's a classic way to shirk responsibility and reflect blame right back onto the employee, and it's upsetting how common this management tactic seems to be.
This bank teller lived in a right-to-sit state, so he assumed that drafting an email explaining his desire to sit down on the job would be a simple way to change the policy. In fact, he could have simply demanded that he be allowed to sit. Instead, he was met with condescension, intimidation, and threats. All of this was a result of a desire to sit down more.
